The Albert B. Alkek Library is the most important information resource within the Texas State community. Serving both the University and the greater public, we help our patrons succeed by teaching them to be knowledgeable and discerning information consumers and by providing quality library services and information in a variety of formats to support the university's teaching, research, and service programs.
The Library contains more than 1.4 million printed volumes, 28,000 ebooks, a half-million microform titles and 37,000 titles in audio visual formats. Access to more than 38,000 serial titles is provided through electronic databases, journal collections or individual subscriptions.
The Alkek Library is a selective depository for U.S. and Texas government documents. Special Collections include the Southwestern Writers Collection, the Wittliff Gallery of Southwestern and Mexican Photography, and the University Archives. The Library maintains eCommons (http://ecommons.txstate.edu), a digital institutional repository of scholarship produced by the faculty and students at Texas State.
